Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – On our latest NMU Wildcat Wednesday, we talked with Jeff Korpi, Director of Housing and Residence Life, about the new on-campus residence halls.

Korpi joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to talk about the new complex of halls known as The Woods.

He explained the design concepts and ideas behind the 1200 bed facility, which is being opened in three phases as of this fall.

The first phase took in the first round of residents just about a month ago and the other buildings will all be up and running by fall 2018.

Korpi explained that the three residence halls, which consist of six buildings will have four floors with a central corridor connecting them to the Marketplace on campus.

There will be classrooms, study spaces, and a 24/7 front desk and all facilities will be ADA accessible.
