Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – As the news of the passing of Al “Goofus” Ammesmaki spreads around the region, we at Great Lakes Radio are taking a moment to revisit a recent interview we did him.

Last July, Goofus joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to talk about a special event he had in the works to celebrate the 44th anniversary of his first public performance on the unique percussion instrument known as the polkacello.

Goofus became known around the world for playing the polkacello and singing songs in his own inimitable style.

He took a few minutes to share some of his history with his polkacello, named Betty, and described her to those not in the know.

He also performed a classic song on it to celebrate the summer season.

Here’s some highlights of that interview.  Rest in Peace, Goofus.
