UPAWS Moving Forward With Plans To Relocate And Expand Facilities And Services

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, known as UPAWS, is working to move to a new location with an upgraded facility to better serve the community.

    UPAWS Community Outreach Coordinator Ann Brownell and UPAWS Volunteer Matt Johnson stopped in today on the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to talk about the effort as well as the mission of the agency.

    Brownell talked about the history of the agency and how they run on community contributions and financial donations and receive no governmental or national group support.

    Johnson discussed the effort by UPAWS to purchase a 20-acre parcel of land near the Marquette County Fairgrounds and a feasibility study examining the costs of building a new facility there.
