Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Women’s Center has a new matching gift opportunity that would eliminate the mortgage on the Harbor House, the only domestic violence shelter serving Marquette and Alger Counties.

Executive Director Beth Casady and Lucy Grove, the organization’s Board President, joined the Sunny Morning Show today to talk about this program.

Casady said thanks to a generous donation from long-time Women’s Center supporters Rod and Holly Aldrich, the Harbor House mortgage may be completely paid off in an expedited time frame.

Grove said their donation will match all gifts in 2018 that are directed to pay off the $507,000 mortgage of the Harbor House.

Any pledge of $20,000 or more can be paid in two or more installments though 2019, Grove added.

Casady and Grove reiterated that paying off the mortgage for Harbor House will greatly improve the agency’s ability to help women, men and children in crisis well into the future.

Information on Harbor House and this matching gift is available at www.wcmqt.org or by calling 906-225-1346.
