Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Superintendent Bill Saunders joined the Sunny Morning Show today to talk about elevated lead levels having been found in the drinking water at the Marquette Area Public Schools.

Saunders said the lead was above the recommended threshold at Sandy Knoll, Bothwell, Graveraet, and Vandenboom schools, while results for tests conducted at the high school have not come in yet.

He said the district is mobilizing all possible resources to address and fix the issues before school starts up again in September.

Saunders said another round of testing utilizing a more precise test is being conducted to better determine the source of lead.

He added that if anyone has any questions or concerns, he can be reached directly at (906) 225-4200 or wsaunders@mapsnet.org.
