Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Voters went out to the polls around the state yesterday for the August primary, and here is how some of the key state-wide races finished up.
Republican Bill Schuette will take on Democrat Gretchen Whitmer in November to be Michigan’s next Governor. Both won in their primary elections yesterday. Whitmer beat out Dr. Abdul El-Sayed and Shri Thanedar. Schuette defeated current Lt. Governor Brian Calley, State Senator Patrick Colbeck and Dr. Jim Hines.
Republican John James will take on Democratic incumbent U-S Senator Debbie Stabenow in November. Stabenow has represented Michigan in Washington for 14 years. James beat out businessman Sandy Pensler in the primary, and says the state is ready for a different voice. He gained the support of President Donald Trump.
