“A Finnish Christmas” TV Special Looks At Finnish Christmas Traditions In The U.P.

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio) – A Christmas-themed special, airing on FOX UP and TV6, is taking a closer look at the Finnish influence on Holiday celebrations in the Upper Peninsula.

Hosted by Great Lakes Radio’s Walt Lindala, “A Finnish Christmas” is airing on FOX UP on Thursday, December 20th at 7:30 pm, eastern, and on WLUC TV6 on Christmas Day at 5:00pm and 7:00pm, eastern.

The show will also be live streamed on the TV6/FOX UP website at www.uppermichiganssource.com.

The show features visits with Finnish language instructor and musician Tanja Stanaway of Ishpeming, and Director of the Finnish-American Heritage Center at Finlandia University in Hancock, Jim Kurtti.

The show is intended to give both Finns and non-Finns some insight into Finnish traditions around the Christmas holiday and show how the Finnish culture is a big part of this time of year in the U.P.

Kim Parker, Marketing Director at TV6 and FOX UP, joined the Sunny Morning Show today to talk about the program with Walt Lindala.
