Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Winter Storm Warning for Baraga and Marquette Counties remains in effect until 7 AM EST this morning, but a posted Winter Storm Warning for Alger, Luce, and Schoolcraft Counties will continue until 1 PM EST this afternoon.
Northern Michigan University in Marquette is closed today. They will be making a decsion on evening classes by 2:00 pm this afternoon. The PEIF will open today at 9:00am.
All Marquette, Alger and Delta County schools are closed today, while there are 2 hour delays for schools in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, Dickinson, West Iron and Schoolcraft Counties this morning.
State Police say there are many snow covered and slippery roads in the central U.P. this morning. Travel will be very difficult or impossible on roads which have not yet been plowed. Patchy blowing snow is significantly reducing visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute.
