Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Newsies: The Broadway Musical is being presented by the Superior Arts Youth Theater at Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre this week.
The show’s director, Susan Candey, joined the Sunny Morning Show today to preview the show and encourage all to come and see it.
Candey said the play is based on the on the 1992 motion picture of the same name, and is inspired by a true story of the newsboys, or “newsies”, who went on strike in New York City for better working conditions.
She said there is a cast of 60 local youth, and10 more young people on the crew.
