MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The MHSAA has changed it’s rules, and Handbook language to allow for age-limit waivers for special needs students to be able to continue to play high school sports after the age of nineteen.

Bob Nadeau from the Ishpeming School Board was in the studio to talk about what the change in the MHSAA rules mean to Ishpeming High School and it’s students.  Bob also talked about the MHSAA,  it’s status as an independent governing body, and membership in the MHSAA.

Dean Dompierre, father of Eric Dompierre, was in the studio to talk about his experience in getting the rule changed,what this change means for Eric and for other athletes, and how important this change is for students with special needs and also how important it is for students to be exposed and to work and participate with students of special needs.
