Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, MexicoDecember 13, 2018 – “Hello, my name is Alfredo. You paid me to tell you things, so listen up!”

This was the very first thing we were told by our tour guide when my husband Cody and I embarked on a tour of the Tulum and Coba Mayan Ruins last week. I instantly liked him.

We went to Mexico for a week to take our very belated honeymoon (it was awesome!), and one of the things I was most looking forward to was checking out the ruins. How COOL is it that ancient civilizations built these amazing buildings and had such extensive knowledge of astrology, math, and construction? I mean, they created an entire calendar/time system themselves!

I was amazed. However, the experience would never had been complete had we not had Alfredo as our tour guide. He has to be in his late 60’s, yet the guy had energy for days. I want to know his secret!

He never stopped talking unless he purposely asked us to ask questions. He was bouncing all over the place. He was hilarious, and really *made* the trip for us.

Cody and I were on the tour with two other couples; A mom/daughter duo from London and a Canadian couple.

The London Ladies were so funny! I think the accents just made their jokes funnier than they actually were! They were on a fun mother/daughter bonding trip, and they were so sweet.

In relation to the Canadian Couple; I’ve never seen two

people take more pictures of themselves than I saw them take. I mean, literally every few minutes they were taking pictures together, separately, or having each other take pictures of the other. If they didn’t like the first five shots one of them took, the other would make them take more.

To each his own, I guess!

Anyways – the trip was so much fun, Alfredo was cool, and the people we met during our ruins excursion were interesting. Check out all of the photos!
