Man reported missing off of South Beach in Marquette, MI is safe

The search has been called off for the missing swimmer off of South Beach in Marquette after the swimmer was found to be safe.

A woman spotted a swimmer around South Beach then called in to report him missing when she looked back to find him gone. The Marquette Coast Guard, a rescue chopper, and other rescue services were quick to respond and search the area.

The search was called off when the man who was reportedly “missing” identified himself to the officials. According to Captain Blake Rieboldt of the Marquette Police, the man was training for a vacation overseas and had decided to get out of the water and head to his home on South Lake Street.
