Escanaba, Michigan– Ashley Veale puts the Miners on the board as she hits 1-of-2 from the free throw line; to knot the game up at 1-1. Kayla Hakala connects on a 3-pointer to extend the Negaunee lead. The Eskymos retake the lead after a pair of baskets, making it 5-4. Negaunee ties the game at 7-7 after swinging the ball around and connecting on a 3-pointer. Taylor Wilber hits a 3-pointer on the following possession, as Negaunee recaptures the lead, 10-7. With under a minute to play in the first quarter, Negaunee leads 12-9.

First quarter:

Negaunee: 12       Escanaba: 9

The Eskymos get on the board first in the second, as they cut the Negaunee lead to 12-11. Kayla Hakala responds with another Miner 3-pointer; extending the lead to 15-11. Negaunee continues their hot shooting from deep as Ashley Veale sinks a 3-pointer giving the Miners a 18-11 lead. Negaunee breaks through a Escanaba press, as they go ahead 20-13.

Halftime score:

Negaunee: 21      Escanaba: 15

Ashley Veale gets the scoring started for Negaunee in the second half as she hits both free throws, giving the Miners a 23-15 advantage. The Miners switch to a 2-3 zone for the first time in the game and force a quick Escanaba turnover. With under six minutes to play, Negaunee holds a 25-16 lead. The Miners take their first double-digit lead of the game, jumping ahead 27-16 with just under five minutes to play in the third. Ashley Veale continues her stellar shooting night, hitting another shot from deep; to give Negaunee a 30-19 lead. With a minute to play in the third quarter, Negaunee clings to a 32-25 lead. Ashley Veale takes a turnover and turns in into points for Negaunee.

Third quarter:

Negaunee: 34     Escanaba: 25

Negaunee gets on the board first in the fourth quarter to help pad their lead in the final eight minutes of play. With 5:35 left in the game the Miners are up on 36-28. Rosalie Anderson hits a lay-up with three minutes left to give the Miners a 10 point lead. The Eskymos are putting on the full court press in hopes to get back into the game. With two minutes to play the Miners are up 40-30. Escanaba converts a 3-point play to cut the Miner lead to 40-33. The Eskymos are forced to intentionally foul as the Miners hold a nine point lead with under a minute of action left.

Behind a hot shooting night from 3-point land and stiffing defense, Negaunee and coach Brandon Sager hold on for a non-conference road win against the Eskymos.
