The Negaunee Miners look to keep their winning streak alive as they host the Manistique Emeralds. Wayne R. Johnson has the call here on Sunny 101.9 WKQS.

Negaunee, Michigan– The Emeralds get on the board first as they take a 2-0 lead a minute into the game. Tanner Uren responds as the Miners knot it up at 2-2. Negaunee connects on a 3-pointer as they jump ahead 6-2. Midway through the first quarter Tanner Uren hits a pair of free throws as the Miners extend their lead to 8-4. Brock Weaver puts in a bucket, giving Negaunee a 12-4 advantage as they put on the press. Tanner Uren finds Brock Weaver on the pick-and-roll as he puts Negaunee up 18-9.

First quarter:

Negaunee: 18       Manistique: 12

Jandron gets the scoring started for Negaunee in the second quarter as he sinks a pair of free throws and responds with a steal and score. With 6:43 to play in the quarter, the Miners lead 23-12. Jandron hits back-to-back 3-pointers as he pushes the Miner lead to 29-12 with 4:44 to play. The Miners use a 15-0 run to make it 33-12 halfway through the second quarter. With 1:30 to play in the second quarter, it’s Negaunee 40, Manistique 20. Uren barries a 3-pointer to give Negaunee a 21-point lead.

Halftime score:

Negaunee: 47       Manistique: 22

Manistique gets on the board first in the second half as they connect on a 3-pointer to cut the Miner lead to 47-25. With 4:20 to play in the third quarter, it’s 54-25, with Negaunee in the driver’s seat. Jandron hits a pair from the line as he has 21 points in the third quarter. As the third quarter nears a close, the Miners have built a 30-point lead.

Third quarter:

Negaunee: 61       Manistique: 29

The Emeralds hit a 3-pointer to start the fourth quarter as they cut the Miner lead to 29 points. The Miners turn to their bench as they hold a comfortable lead in the fourth quarter. Negaunee converts a lay-up to push their lead to 34 points. The Negaunee bench picks up where the starters left off as they extend the lead to 39 points. Negaunee leads by 42 points after connecting on another 3-pointer. It’s 84-37 Negaunee, with under a minute play.

The Miners use a monster second quarter to blow the game open as they cruise to a home win, improving to 10-1 on the season and 5-0 in the conference.
