Negaunee, Michigan – Taylor Wilber gets the Miners on the board first as she buries a 3-pointer a minute into the game. Wilber splits a pair from the line as Negaunee goes up 4-0. The Miners have jumped out to a 7-2 lead with 4:44 left in the first quarter. Kayla Hakala drops a 3-pointer in the face of the Mountaineers 2-3 zone as Negaunee takes a 10-2 lead. Taylor Wilber scores again as the Miners are finding the offense early. With two minutes to play in the opening frame, the Miners lead 12-4. The Miners sink another 3-pointer to take a double digit lead with just under a minute left in the first quarter.

First quarter:

Negaunee: 15       Iron Mountain: 8

The Mountaineers get the first bucket of the second quarter on a inbound play, cutting the Miner lead to 15-10. With under three minutes of action in the first half, Negaunee is holding a 15-12 advantage. Ashley Veale grabs her own miss and puts it in for two, as the Miners take a five point lead. The Mountaineers convert a 3-point play to cut into the Negaunee lead. Rosalie Anderson splits a pair from the line to put the Miners up 18-15. Wilber hits a backdoor lay-up as the Miners go back up by five with just over a minute left in the second quarter.

Halftime score:

Negaunee: 20      Iron Mountain: 15

With under seven minutes to play in the third quarter both teams have traded buckets with Negaunee holdinga  22-17 advantage. Taylor Wilber takes a Iron Mountain turnover and turns it into two points for the Miners, who have a 26-17 lead. The Mountaineers have cut it back to a five point game, 26-21 midway through the third quarter. Taylor Wilber scores again, as Negaunee takes a seven point lead. The Miners have taken a 10 point lead; 31-21 and the Mountaineers have taken a timeout. With under two minutes left in the third, Negaunee has built a 35-25 lead as they look to distance themselves from Iron Mountain.

Third quarter:

Negaunee: 35        Iron Mountain: 25

Both teams have hit a free throw in the early goings of the fourth, as the Miners still hold a 10 point lead; 36-26. Wilber connects on another free throw for Negaunee as the Miners are looking to keep Iron Mountain at bay in the final minutes of action. With just over five minutes left, Kayla Hakala converts the shot, giving the Miners an eight point lead. Iron Mountain is putting on the full court press as Negaunee breaks it and goes up by 10 points; 43-33. The Miners have blown open a 15 point lead, going up 51-36 as both teams turn to their benches to finish the game.

Negaunee uses a strong fourth quarter to take command of the game and the top spot of the conference as they pick up a home win against Iron Mountain.
