The Calumet Copper Kings got the ball first and started the game off driving hard against the Miners defense.  Miners were able to hold strong at first but as their defense became tired and rough Calumet was able to get a 5 yard touchdown by Jacob Pieti.  Not to be outdown, Neguanee comes back with a 60 yard touchdown scored by Tyler LaJoie!  This tied the score  at 8-8.

Copper Kings got the ball and lost it by a fumble, Negaunee recovered the ball.  The pre-game rains made for a muddy and slippery field. Lots of slipping went on and coaches were forced to change up game plans to compensate.  Tyler LaJoie scored another touchdown for Negaunee before the end of the first quarter making the score 16-8 going into the second quarter.
