Washington, D.C. – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A bill introduced by Congressman Dan Benishek giving Congress and the public access to key data from VA hospitals across the country has passed unanimously in the U.S. House.

The Veterans Information Modernization Act directs the Secretary of the VA to submit an annual report to Congress on the VA’s efforts to provide medical services, hospital and nursing home care to veterans.

Benishek, who chairs the House Subcommittee on Veterans Health, says the bill is the first step to make the VA more accountable in the future.

It now moves on to the Senate.
