MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The investigation is continuing into the weekend sexual assault in Schoolcraft County of a downstate Battle Creek native who was rowing around the shore of Lake Michigan for charity.

27-year-old Jenn Gibbons was assaulted early Sunday morning south of Gulliver.  Gibbons, who currently lives in Chicago, was rowing by day and then pulling her boat up on shore or into a port to sleep in it at night. Her goal was to travel 1500 miles and raise 150-thousand dollars for breast cancer survivors.

Gibbons, a 2003 graduate of Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, said in a post on her website that she will resume her trip next week with additional security and precautions. Her organization, R.O.W. “Recovery on Water” assists breast cancer patients in their recovery. She had raised about 80-thousand dollars.
