Employment rates up for Michigan's 17 major labor markets

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates increased in all of Michigan’s 17 major labor market areas in June.

According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, total employment and labor force levels rose in most regions last month as summer and seasonal hiring continued.  The Ann Arbor area had the state’s lowest jobless rate in June at 6.2% while Northeast Lower Michigan had the highest at 10.3%.

The U.P. rate for the period was 9.1% while Marquette County had a rate of 8.6%.  Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.6% percent.
