Snyder Ordered Flags to Half-Staff Friday for Traverse City Soldier

Governor Snyder ordered flags to half staff Friday for lower Northern Michigan soldier

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Governor Rick Snyder has ordered U.S. flags to be lowered to half-staff on Friday in honor of a soldier from Northern Michigan who was killed in action in Afghanistan.

26-year-old Marine Sgt. Justin Hansen of Traverse City died July 24th while conducting combat operations in Badghis province of Afghanistan.  He was assigned to the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Hansen graduated from Kingsley High School in 2003 and joined the Marines in 2005. He served a tour of duty in Iraq and was serving his second tour in Afghanistan.

Flags should be returned to full-staff on Saturday, Aug. 4th.
