Suspects arrested driving stolen vehicle in Negaunee

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Three people have been arrested after an incident last night in Negaunee involving a stolen vehicle.

Authorities had been notified to be on the lookout for a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with Wisconsin license plates around 11:15 pm and a short time later the suspect vehicle was spotted at the Citgo gas station on US-41 in Negaunee.

The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen from Manitowoc, Wisconsin and a Negaunee Police cruiser pulled in behind the Jeep.  The driver of the Jeep rammed the Negaunee Police car several times in an attempt to get free, but was unsuccessful.

The driver and a passenger were arrested on several charges and taken into custody.  Police also cited several others at the gas station who were meeting with the suspects and a third person was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

No names have been released, pending formal arraignment and further charges are possible.
