Filed under: U.P. News Updates |
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) - Officials with Cliffs Natural Resources say the company has adjusted its production plans for the Empire Mine in Marquette County and will resume operations early next month.
Operations at the Empire have been idle in a planned production curtailment since early June.  According to James Kochevar, general manager of Cliff’s Michigan Operations, approximately 245 employees have been on temporary layoff since the production curtailment went into effect.
It is expected that all of those employees will be recalled.
