Seasonal Unemployment Rates Increased

Total employment and labor force levels have decline in most of Michigan

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State officials say seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates increased in all of Michigan’s 17 major labor market areas in July.

According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, total employment and labor force levels declined in the majority of regions over the month.

The Ann Arbor area had the state’s lowest jobless rate last month at 6.8 percent while the Metro Detroit area had the highest at 11.9 percent.

Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in July was 9 percent.  The U.P. rate was 9.5 percent.
