Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Third Street brew pub in Marquette is moving ahead with efforts to expand some of their service hours.

The Blackrocks Brewery received unanimous support for a requested one-hour extension of their outdoor patio usage permit from the Marquette City Planning Commission last night.

It allows Blackrocks to serve patrons outside until 11:00 p.m. Planning Commissioners approved the request saying that it fits in with both the Third Street Revitalization Plan and the city’s overall Community Master Plan.

Marquette City Commissioner Sara Cambensy joined with a group of residents who live in the immediate area around Blackrocks to speak at the meeting against the extension.

Cambensy, who lives near the brew pub, agreed with those against the extension in saying the added noise is not good for the neighborhood.

The recommendation for the extension now moves on the the Marquette City Commission for final approval.
