Ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon for McClellan extention

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The City of Marquette will conduct a ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to commemorate the opening of the McClellan Avenue extension from Fair Avenue to Wright Street.

The ceremony will be held just north of the intersection with Fair Avenue and will be attended by present and former City Officials who were involved with the project.

The extension of McClellan Avenue, both north and south, was a concept first introduced in 1971 as a means to introduce a true north-south route for traffic through the City of Marquette.

This piece is the final piece of the initial concept and was identified in the most recent Community Master Plan as a key transportation corridor designed to provide an uninterrupted north-south corridor connecting every major east-west artery in the City.
