Flags at half staff for solider today

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Governor Rick Snyder has ordered U.S. flags to be lowered to half-staff within the state Capitol Complex and at state buildings, grounds and facilities throughout Michigan in honor of Army Pfc. Shane Cantu, of Corunna, today.

Flags should be returned to full-staff on Wednesday, as they will remain lowered on Tuesday, September 11th, in honor of Patriot Day.

The 20-year-old Cantu died Aug. 28 in Afghanistan. He was a member of the U.S. Army, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team.

Cantu was a 2010 graduate of Corunna High School.
