Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education nuetral on proposals

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education weighed in on a pair of ballot proposals last night.

As part of their regular agenda, the board discussed a request from the Michigan Association of School Boards asking the MAPS Board not to support ballot proposals 2 and 5.

The Association has formally opposed the ballot proposals and is asking school boards around the state to adopt proposals aligning themselves with that position.

Following discussions involving teachers, parents and concerned residents, the board found the proposals to be highly divisive to the district and voted to not take an official stance on either proposal and to remain neutral.
