Sault Ste. Marie, MI  (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Sault Ste. Marie Post say a Virginia man was found dead in a cabin on Drummond Island in Chippewa County after he had fired on two U.S. Border Patrol Agents.

The incident happened around 2:30 yesterday morning when the agents tracked 38-year-old Aaron Furness of Woodbridge, VA to the cabin.

Furness shot at the agents, but they were not injured.

The agents returned fire and Furness ran to the cabin and barricaded himself inside.

After several attempts to contact Furness, authorities entered the cabin around 11:00 a.m. and found Furness dead.

An autopsy is being held today to determine the cause of death and the investigation is continuing.
