Power outage effects over 800 in Marquette this morning

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A power outage in Downtown Marquette caused some traffic problems this morning for over 800 customers of the Marquette Board of Light and Power. 

The outage started when an electrical conductor burned out on the 300 block of West Washington Street just before 10 a.m.

The outage also caused traffic lights to be out in the downtown area at several intersections.  City Police were called out to direct traffic at the affected intersections as crews worked to restore the power. 

The loss of power also affected internet access for several businesses and individuals. 

Board of Light and Power crews had the power restored around 11:15 a.m.  A total of 852 customers were affected by the outage.
