Harvey, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Chocolay Township Police say one man is in custody after allegedly stealing a car and trying to run from police.
Around 12:30 yesterday morning, a car was reported to Chocolay Township Police as stolen from 105 East Fairbanks Avenue.
Police spotted the car, a silver 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, on Lakewood Lane, but it slipped away.
Police were able to locate the car after a short search in the parking lot behind the Silver Creek Church in Harvey.
A man inside the car fled the scene on foot, but was captured and taken into custody.
He is being held in the Marquette County Jail on charges of Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile and Resisting and Obstructing Officers.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment, and the stolen car was returned to it’s owner.
