Elderly Man Killed in Marquette While Crossing Street

Elderly man hit and killed in MarquetteMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – One man was killed Saturday morning after being struck by a van while crossing a street in Marquette.

Marquette City Police say the accident occurred about 7 a.m. on West Washington Street near the Burger King restaurant.

Police say 86-year-old Donald Papin of Marquette was crossing the street from north to south when an eastbound van hit him.  The van was driven a 50-year-old Marquette man who was on his way to work at the time.

The name of the driver has not been released and the accident remains under investigation.   No charges have been filed in the incident.
