MTU’s Library Reopened After Fire

MTU's library reopened after fireMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Officials at Michigan Technological University say the campus library reopened for use at noon yesterday.

A fire in the Michigan Tech Archives on Friday closed down the facility. The archives are located on the garden level of the library and will remain closed until further notice.

Michigan Sate Police Fire Investigators are continuing to work to determine the cause of the fire, which is unknown at this time.

Reports say most of the damage was caused by water from the library’s sprinkler system, which was activated automatically when the fire was detected.

The investigation is  ongoing to evaluate total damages.
