Marquette-Alger College Access Network Receives Startup Grant

Marquette-Alger College Access Network recieved grantMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)An area agency focused on getting high school students ready for college has received some financial assistance to serve school districts in the central U.P.

The Marquette-Alger College Access Network has received a $50,000 startup grant from Michigan College Access Network for implementation of programs designed to increase the post secondary education attainment rates within Marquette and Alger counties.

Schools currently participating in the network include Marquette Area Public Schools, Gwinn Area Community Schools, Munising Public Schools, Burt Township School and North Star Public School Academy. All schools in Marquette and Alger counties are welcome and encouraged to participate.

The agency is part of a statewide effort to increase Michigan’s college readiness, participation and completion rates, particularly among low-income students, first-generation college going students, and students of color.
