Michigan Congresssman on list for CIA replacement

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Michigan Congressman Mike Rogers is reportedly on the short list of possible candidates to replace retired General David Petraeus as the head of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Petraeus, the former commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, resigned Friday after his affair with biographer Paula Broadwell was made public.

According to a report in the New York Times, Rogers, a Republican from downstate Brighton, could sail through confirmation hearings and give a bipartisan air to the administration’s efforts, as Petraeus did.

Rogers is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a former Federal Bureau of Investigation official.  However, the newspaper puts Rogers at the bottom of the list of likely candidates to replace Petraeus, calling him a somewhat unconventional choice.
