MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The investigation is continuing into a two-vehicle accident yesterday evening at the Empire Mine.
According to a statement from Cliffs Natural Resources, a production truck and a pickup truck collided on the hauling road between the Empire Mine pit and the Tilden Mine pit.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Cliffs’ Officials were joined on the scene by the Ishpeming City Fire Department and Marquette County Rescue crews.
The names of the drivers have not been released, but the driver of the pickup truck was taken to Marquette General Hospital with unknown injuries. There is no word on his condition at this time. The driver of the production truck was not injured.
