Black Friday shopping overMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)With black Friday bargains behind us now, Michigan retailers are now looking for consumers to continue to be excited about the holidays…and buying.

As the hype of early Christmas shopping fades, Jim Hallan, President and CEO of the Michigan Retailers Association, says many of his members expect consumers to spend over the remaining few weeks, even with less attractive bargains and the competition of online shopping.

While that isn’t easy to do, Hallan says, not everyone took advantage of the early bargains. He says “Black Friday” shopping is critical as it “sets the tone” for the season, but hopes it can live up to pre-season retail expectations where three-out-of-four Michigan retailers projected sales improvement, with 43 percent of them hoping for sales increases of five percent over last year.
