Protesters Arrested in Marquette Yesterday

Protesters arrested in MarquetteMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Michigan State Police arrested eight people on Wednesday after they refused to leave Governor Rick Snyder’s Marquette office.

Authorities say ten people met with the office director who answered their questions for about two hours and then told them that the office would be closed at 5 p.m. Police say after the office had closed, the group was asked twice to leave but they refused.

Troopers then said they would be arrested for trespassing. Two of the individuals complied, and left the office. The remaining eight were arrested.  All were released on personal recognizance bonds. They will appear in Marquette District Court on Monday.

State Police say the protesters were cooperative with the Governor’s office staff and police, and there were no other issues during the incident.
