A Prominent Community Supporter of Marquette County Has Passed

    Funeral to remember one of Marquette Counties biggest supportersMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Funeral Services have been set for one of Marquette County’s most prominent community supporters.

    87-year-old Waino Liuha of Negaunee passed away on Christmas Day at Marquette General Hospital.  Liuha was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee, the Negaunee Lions Club, the V.A. Romo Post # 3165 V.F.W., the Pioneer Kiwanis, the Negaunee-Ishpeming Community Foundation, the Thrivent Board of Directors, Habitat for Humanity, the United Way, RSVP and was a volunteer at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

    A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran in Negaunee.  The family will greet relatives and friends at a reception in the church fellowship hall following the service.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Negaunee-Ishpeming Community Foundation’s Joanne and Waino Liuha Memorial Scholarship Fund or any charity of choice in his memory.
