Decline in Unemployment Rate in Michigan
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates declined slightly in 14 of Michigan’s 17 major labor market areas in November.
According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, total employment and labor force levels decreased in all regions over the month mostly due to a reduction in the number of people actively seeking a job.
The Ann Arbor area had the state’s lowest jobless rate at 4.3 percent percent while the metro Detroit area had the highest at 9.7 percent. The rate for the period in the U.P. was 7.5 percent while Marquette County had rate of 5.7 percent.
Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in November was 8.9 percent.
