Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan State Housing Development Authority has awarded a grant to Marquette and Houghton Counties to help demolish four to five blighted residential buildings.

The $83,400 Community Development Block Grant will be used to demolish three buildings in Marquette County’s Republic Township and one to two buildings in the Village of Calumet in Houghton County.

Administrators say removing the old buildings will improve property values in the surrounding community.
