Houghton, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Tech Department of Public Safety and Police Services says a suspect in Thursday’s social media threats was taken into custody late last night.

The suspect was arrested after an investigation into an anonymous post on the social media site Yik Yak threatening the lives of African American students on the Houghton campus.

The University says the arrest came based on information from Yik Yak and Michigan Tech Information Technology.

The suspect is currently lodged in the Houghton County Jail and further details are expected later this morning.
