    U.P. man appealing conviction of first degree murderMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)An Upper Peninsula man is appealing his May 2012 murder conviction for the death of an elderly woman who was scheduled to testify against him at a criminal trial.

    45-year old David Levack of Kingsford was sentenced to life in prison without parole following his conviction by an Iron County Trial Court jury of first degree premeditated murder, first degree felony murder, first degree home invasion, and witness intimidation.

    81-year-old Joyce Johnson was found strangled in her Stambaugh Township home in September 2011 on the same day that she was scheduled to testify in court against Levack about the theft of jewelry from her home in November 2008.
