Marquette County Businesses Recognized for Employment Opportunities
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette County businesses that have created new employment opportunities in the past 12 months were recognized today at a special session in Marquette.
Forty-nine county businesses that collectively created 293 new jobs in 2012 were recognized for their participation in the Plus One Program at the Lake Superior Community Partnership’s Annual Meeting at Northern Michigan University.
The program, designed in conjunction with Michigan Works, operates on the premise that an employer adding just one employee contributes to the county’s economic development. The program supports and recognizes a 1% workforce increase annually in Marquette County.
Organizers say since the program began six years ago, Marquette County businesses have created a total of 1,781 new jobs.
