MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A commercial for Tide laundry detergent topped the competition in this year’s Michigan State University list of best Super Bowl ads.
The Tide ad, in which a man gains fame after an image of Joe Montana appeared in a salsa stain on his football jersey, was the highest point getter in MSU’s annual ad competition.
A Sketcher’s ad where a man chases down a cheetah and Dorito’s ads also scored well.
Ads that didn’t fare well were movie trailers and a GoDaddy.com commercial featuring a supermodel making out with a geek, which MSU advertising instructor Bob Kolt says was funny for about a second, but then just got weird.
The MSU faculty used a ten-point scale to rate the ads based on creativity, production and overall quality.
