Study on Parking in Marquette
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The findings of an independent parking study were recently discussed by the Marquette City Commission and DDA Board of Directors.
The study was undertaken by the DDA in order to develop a long-term strategy that balances the parking needs of the district customers and included usage surveys taken in July and September that featured counts, pattern observations and more.
The research revealed that there is a sufficient supply of parking in the Downtown District and the majority of those surveyed said parking convenience was more important than price.
Some of the recommendations from the study include the better managing of parking as a system; restructuring off-street parking regulations; investment in new technologies; and easing some of regulations.
The recommendations from the study will be part of a long-term strategy that will provide for improved parking in the district.
