Michigan State Police say roads across the U.P. are ranging from snow covered and icy to slushy and wet.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for the region today by the National Weather Service until 7:00 o’clock tonight. Plan on an additional 1 to 3 inches of wet snow accumulation today with the greatest amounts over the higher terrain from the Huron Mountains to Ishpeming.

Travel will continue to be affected through the afternoon and evening by north to northwest winds gusting to around 30 mph. The winds will cause some blowing and drifting snow, especially in open areas near Lake Superior.

State police say roads will remain snow covered and very slippery. Please drive carefully on your early commute.
