U.P. 200, Midnight Run Tonight in Marquette

Great Lakes Radio NewsMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The starts of the U.P. 200 and Midnight Run Sled Dog Races are set for tonight in downtown Marquette.

The opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. with the first musher, Frank Moe from Bemidji, Minnesota, out of the chute at 6:50 p.m.

The Midnight Run sled dog race will begin at 9:00 p.m.  The first musher out tonight in the Midnight Run is Shannon Miller of Newberry.

The City of Marquette is reminding motorists of street closures in the downtown area that will be in effect all day today as crews prepare the starting track on Washington Street and along Lakeshore Boulevard. Most streets will be reopened by      2 a.m. tomorrow.

Detour routes will be posted and pedestrian access will be maintained in all street closure area. As always, race organizers are reminding folks who will be coming to downtown Marquette for the starts to leave their pets at home.
