Marquette Man Arrested for Home Invasion
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette City Police are reporting the arrest of a Marquette man on a charge of felony home invasion.
26-year-old Douglass Fitzpatrick was arrested for Home Invasion in the 2nd Degree for the breaking and entering of a residence on the 500 block of West Washington Street in Marquette.
Police say their investigation found that Fitzpatrick had been at the victim’s house visiting with the victim on January 14. The victim told Fitzpatrick he was leaving the house and Fitzpatrick would have to leave as well, which he did. After being away for a short time, the victim returned home to find it had been broken into and property had been stolen.
Police discovered that Fitzpatrick had talked about the crime to several people before committing it. Police say that information and other statements and evidence were enough to charge and arrest Fitzpatrick.
If convicted, Fitzpatrick faces up to 15 years in prison and/or a $15,000 fine.
