Legislation for Special Veteran Identification Passes in State House
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan House passed legislation Thursday creating a special designation for military veterans on their state driver’s licenses and state identification cards.
The bills are designed to give veterans with proof of an honorable discharge another option to show ID proving they qualify for certain services and resources.
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson supports the legislation saying the state should do a better job of connecting it’s estimated 650,000 military veterans to the services and benefits they’re entitled to.
If approved, Michigan will become the 28th state to offer the designation for veterans’ identification.
