MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Authorities say road conditions were not a factor in a two-vehicle crash that slowed down traffic on US 41 in Ely Township yesterday morning.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection of US 41 and County Road 478 when a Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by 81-year-old Thomas Junack of Ishpeming, pulled out from CR 478 onto US 41 into the path of a Dodge minivan, driven by 61-year-old Fern Johnson of Champion.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries and sought their own treatment. Traffic was reduced to one lane on US 41 while authorities investigated the scene.
Junack was ticketed for failure to yield.
